The first item you need to do is to call your local gas dealers and find out about the availability of the mixed gas used to dispense Guinness. It's a various gas all in one air tank (75% Nitrogen, 25% CO2). Gas dealers can be found in your local yellow pages under the heading "Gas". Call several to find one that will vocation with you. *Here is what you to ask your local gas dealer :* Do you carry the mixed gas to dispense Guinness? (75% Nitrogen, 25% CO2 mix) If they do, ask what pattern of air tank they will fill. (Nitrogen tank or CO2 tank) Then ask what size tank they will fill. You will need to know the Post (in cubic feet)" and also the "Service Rating". Some gas dealers will only fill a Nitrogen tank with the mixed gas, others will only fill a CO2 tank. The only metamorphosis between these two tanks is the valve head on top. Depending upon the dealer, some will fill your tank that you can buy from us and some will make you buy or rent the tank from them. This is why we do not list the air tank with our system. A tank that is no more than 19" tall will fit inside the unit behind the keg. Refrigeration is one of the most important aspects to consider when building a home bar. You do want cold drinks, don’t you? You have to decide which type(s) of refrigeration you’ll incorporate into your bar based on how much room you have, the amount of money you can spend and what you like to drink the most.
Standard Refrigeration Draft Beer Kegerators A simple solution that works for many home bars is to use a single piece of refrigeration, like a back bar refrigerator, for storing beer, wine and soda. More complex bars sometimes have refrigeration units built into the counter or under the bar.
If built-in refrigeration is what you’re after, you’ll have to make sure the compressor vents of the units that you select are on the front of the fridge. The hot air given off by the compressor needs a place to vent, in order to cool the machine down. If your unit can’t vent correctly, you’re looking at a burnt out compressor motor, wasted money and a dangerous fire hazard, so it is important to purchase wisely. To make it easy, most of the appropriate under counter units are labeled as being able to be built-in.
If a standard refrigerator filled with bottles and cans of the good stuff simply won’t do, your home bar will need a draft beer system. Installing your own draft beer system or kegerator isn’t as difficult as you might think! If you’re planning on serving canned or bottled beer, wine, malt beverages, soda and/or juice, you’ll probably want to consider a beverage center . Beverage centers come in various sizes and are often built into the cabinet system of your back bar. Most of these guys have a glass door so you can proudly display your extensive selection. Great for keeping mixers cold, too. Most people don’t really think much about installing an ice maker, until their 16th trip up the stairs to refill an ice bucket. Small, portable, under-the-counter ice makers are available for home use and some of them don’t even require a drain line. If you buy a lot of bagged ice, one of these super convenient ice machines will pay for itself in no time.
