Incentives for energy-efficient refrigerators in the hot seat ...
The message is highly relevant today, as a $300 million program, similar to what Stråberg suggested for Sweden, was recently announced by President Barack Obama. The US package will authorize states to create rebates with an expected value of $50 to $200 for each purchase of an appliance with an Energy Star efficiency rating. Beginning this fall, the program will apply to dishwashers, washing machines and refrigerators. Consumers are not required to recycle their old appliances in the process.
Retailers vocal on tax rebates In addition, the British Retail Consortium campaigned last week to lobby the British government to introduce a combined recycling program for old, energy-thirsty appliances and waive the 15 percent VAT for new, energy-lean ones. When explaining its position, Stephen Robertson, British Retail Consortium Director General, stated, “The Government’s working against its own objectives when it sets targets for reducing carbon emissions while charging full VAT on the efficient products that will move us towards those targets.”
“Retailers are doing their bit to cut carbon, but homes are responsible for 27 percent of the nation’s emissions. Helping householders improve their performance has to be the next step,” Robertson continued.

Appliances: Electrolux AEG Santo Refrigerator : Remodelista
As Charles notes in our previous post on the Valcucine Hability kitchen, the drinking of wine is an essential ingredient in food preparation. The Santo 75598 KG side-by-side refrigerator from Swedish manufacturer Electrolux AEG includes an integrated section for wine storage. Each section has independent temperature controls, and an alarm alerts you if the temperature rises; via Appliancist .

How do Electrolux refrigerators and ranges comare to other ...
I am about to buy the EW23BC70IS french door style fridge and the EW30GF65GS Range by Electrolux. Every store I’ve been to the sales rep seems to recommend this product. How do they compare with brands such as GE, LG, Kitchen Aid, ect… Is it worth a little extra $ to buy this product knowing that it is made in Germany and needs to be built to high standards? The Viking/Wolf products are a little more than we need (We are not top chefs).

What is ur opinion about Electrolux kelvinator Refrigerators?
Q:
Which of the 3 refrigerators is the best buy...? Samsung, Electrolux, GE?
Q: I am choosing between which 3 refrigerators are the best buy? I am looking for value for durability and value for money.
I need suggestions please.
A: Despite the other answer here, I personally have had nothing but problems with my GE refrigerator and will not be buying another GE product. If you Google the GE fridges you will see lots of problems including 2 class action lawsuits in the last few years. We have had problems with the freezer baskets not staying in track, frost building around the ice maker which blocks ice to the external dispenser, constant problems with the water dispenser freezing, and lately it's been freezing items in the crisper drawer and sometimes the top and middle racks, it's intermittent. These items are freezing even with settings are turned down to 1 or 2. Sadly this unit is not even 6 years old. We have had 3 services calls and each time they have not been able to fix it.
We have decided on going with KitchenAid or Samsung. Sorry, don't know much about the Electrolux as I don't think they have a French Door model, which is what we are interested in. The Samsung French Door model is currently on the list of recommended fridges on Consumer Reports.
We will be making our purchase decision this week (1/27/08).
If you Google the Samsungs I have found hardly any issues. Plus, every other Samsung product I have purchased I have been happy with (TV, cell phone, computer monitor). Not that these are necessarily related, but the last GE house phone we bought was also a piece of junk.
We are leaning towards the Samsung because we like the dual cooling units (1 for fridge, 1 for freezer), the easy adjust shelves (one shelf flips up for tall wine bottles or 2 liters) another "splits" in half and canbe pushed back, the flat front water/ice dispenser (it's flush with the front as opposed to sticking out an inch or two like most others) and the CoolSelect Pantry which is an adjustable temp "crisper" type drawer that covers the entire width of the fridge).
Finally, if you look at each manufactures website, the Samsung has a lot more detail than GE.
