Customer ReviewsSimilarly constituted of s-----This microwave has some compelling feature such as the door and the oscillating tray. However, it is totally overated on its venting capacity. In as a matter of actual fact the specs on venting are an exageration. Also the electronic touch control pad failed after about a year. When all is said the touch control pad locked itself ( child lock activated spontaneously!!!) and is now consummately unresponsive. Tried the steps in the instruction manual to deactivate the child lock --no fortune. The microwave is now unusable!! Piece of s---! Customer ReviewsOkay microwaveWe purchased this microwave in June 2009. We genuinely liked the way it looked. We also enjoyed the features, with one exception. I did not realize that there was no kitchen timer. My goof. In April 2010, the zero handle wouldn't work. So, instead of cooking for 2 mintues, I would use 1Min 59 secs. Within two weeks, the 7 knob, the two button and the light would not work. I contacted LG. Lucky for me, it was still within the warranty period. LG was extremely cooperative (due to being covered by the warranty) and set up an appointment for a fix. The repair person showed up promptly at the appointed period. It seemed that he ordered any part that could have been broken and brought it with him. It turns out that the keypad was shot. He replaced the door, and in about 20 minutes, it all done. On the arbitrary side, the new door contained a kitchen timer, on the negative side, the unit should not have required repair using it about five times/week to pastry-cook vegetables. As another reviewer mentioned, the door appears to be flimsy. On another note: We have a Kenmore Refrigerator, made by LG. It required a new computer trustees, a new fan for the refrigerator part and a new light fixture, after two years of use. LG does not appear to make very sound products. LG = Junk Well uncommonly it stands for Lucky Goldstar and their products are still the same junk that they first started with. Well that's what the Warranty Repair Guy said. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING LG!!!! As per the population that have to fix them. Wonderful Microwave I true-love this microwave. It cooks fast and more even than others I have owned. I really love the warming lamp. Keeps nutriment warm till everyone is ready to eat. The only problem I can find is that it has no timer. I miss that. I would buy again. cooks well and close at hand but noisy I was apprehensive at first with the idea of locating a microwave over a cooktop but wanted to give it a try and gain the additional counter space in the Nautical galley. I am glad I went with an over the cooktop model as it is very convenient to use even while operating the cooktop at the same time. Having the rudder along the bottom makes it easy to see which button I am pushing and to monitor the cooking time. The microwave has been great for heating casserole serving dishes as it can easily accommodate a large rectangular glass dish which is very rare. It also move the dish back and forth which makes for unusually even rations, even better than a standard microwave with a carousel for rotating the food. The under the unit light works well and the fan with its 3 speeds is also both operative and not terribly loud. What is noisy is the magnetron tube operation which vibrates a shield which is held on only with band. I had a technician come out and that is when I saw how the poor design of the shielding caused it to vibrate and rattle entirely loudly at times. It is surprising that an otherwise excellent design should suffer from this one oversight on the part of the LG engineers. The stainless accomplish is also very good and easier to keep clean than my other stainless appliances. With the microwave in a high visibility location it is comfortably that it is so easy to keep looking like new even with heavy use. Overall I would buy this unit again as the benefits of the controls at the bottom and the dual act food movement mechanism compensate for the noisy operation of the unit. There are no other microwave ovens from other manufacturers that have the league of features present in this LG. The over the counter units from GE and others look like very little thought was put into their organize and they are hasty conversions of counter top models. LG Microwave Pros: Cooks well. Large features for sensor cooking. Like the buttons on bottom. Rotating & articulating cooking try results in more even fare -i.e. less hot/cold spots. Cons: It is very noisy. Are microwave ovens dangerous?: Consumer Reports Home & Garden BlogLG Microwave Ovens have unreliable magnetrons. I bought a model LRM1230W in August 2004 and have had 3 magnetron failiures. It does not matter that the magnetron is guranteed for 10 years. LG will replace it but I must pay $40 to have it installed. I have now paid twice $40 = $80 to have magnetrons replaced. The last one failed in less than a year. After endless hours on the phone with LG they finally accepted that fact that their magnetrons were unreliable and offered $50 towards a new unit. The only comparable LG microwave ovens available are much more expensive. I reasoned that it might not be a sound idea to invest any more money in an unreliable microwave. Hence I bought a GE oven.
