Maytag Performa Dishwasher - Appliance Repair Forum
My dishwasher wasn't draining properly. Took it apart to take a look and in the process either broke or found broken, a tiny black plastic piece that fits onto a metal arm at the base of the dishwasher. From what I can tell, the metal piece rotates and this plastic piece which has a little arm protruding from it, lifts a seperate metal springed arm, which triggers the drain in the center of the circular filter above (make sense at all). part.JPG

Maytag dishwasher model WU482 series 01 serial 155439 VA - The ...
There's been no change in power supply, water supply, water temperature, soap, frequency of use, number of dishes, level of cleaning, machine noise. It seems heat releated. Besides requesting for possible fixes, can anyone describe exactly how the timer control works? I'm expecting it's like an old washing machine's, only much simpler. Thanks. Thanks all. Without a schematic, I didn't know how to run the motor directly. I figured I could skip past the water cycles to run the motor, but I decided on another experiment first: I blew a fan on the motor while running a regular cycle to see if enough heat was dissipated to complete the cycle. It did not finish, and in fact, quit even earlier. I could also detect a slight odor. I'm assuming the motor's failing, and I'm looking at new machines.

Maytag Dishwasher touchpad problem - Appliance Repair Forum
I have had my MAYTAG Model #MDBH955AWW dishwasher less than 2 years. Response from the touchpad has progressively deteriorated over the last month: from lights failing to operate while the dishwasher went though its cycles, to a total failure of all touchpad buttons. Now some lights will come on, but no action. Do I assume it is a failure of the touchpad? I don't want to spend $180 for a touchpad. Is there any other option? Are there better dishwashers out there that don't employ the touchpad design? I would prefer the old-fashioned mechanical dials of the GE dishwasher I had that lasted over 20 years, and that its final failure was a deterioration of the inner plastic lining while the mechanical and electrical elements were still operable.

Maytag dishwashers. How long do they last?
Q: My friend is selling her Maytag dishwasher for £150 its 4 years old. How long do the pumps usually last in Maytag’s and is this good value? I think she payed £600 new it’s in good condition apart from a few cracks on the lcd buttons and display. Thanks D :-)
A: Hi!
I've had my US Maytag dishwasher "JetClean" do well for almost 10 years. I think they're supposed to last anywhere from 8-15 years, more or less, depending on how much you use it, probably. I don't know about the pumps, sorry. If you suscribe to Consumer Reports, maybe they would have info on that.
I bought an almost new maytag dishwasher doesn't take in water?
Q: maytag dishwasher almost new, comes on but will not take in water from faucet. Portable model mdc4000awe, what is the problem?
A: Make sure valve is open
How can I fix my Maytag dishwasher?
Q: My dishwasher has never really cleaned well, but now it won't pump out the water at the bottom and therefore isn't doing anything at all but whirring. It's a Maytag and has just three buttons on it "power dry", "sani wash", and "enegry saver". It has the dial you turn and then the little lever to start the wash. Any suggestions for me? If so, please give me as close to a step by step as possible since I am not really mechanically minded. Thanks!
Don't just tell me to go get a new dishwasher, I can think of that answer myself.
Jcontrols, there is a definite click there. I'll give what you suggested a try.
A: You don't say if your Dishwasher is still under warranty. If it is don't even think of trying to fix it yourself or you will break the terms and conditions of the warranty and if by chance you bought a lemon, they can get out of giving you a new one on the grounds that you had it "messed with" by somebody who was not one of their authorized servicepeople.
Even if it is off-warranty now, I would still think it best to call one of their authorized technicians. I purchased a very expensive Maytag Neptune washing machine, and just before the Warranty was up, it started clunking and not acting right. They kept on sending one of their repair men who tinkered with it, but it kept on acting up The first time it worked for about couple of months and in that time the warranty expired. But it started malfunctioning again, and they sent somebody else who now put in a report saying there was something fundamentally wrong with the workings, and in his opinion it could not be fixed. They sent two more servicemen to check it who also sent in the same report. Finally after a conversation on the phone with the head office, by which time I was getting pretty steamed, and reminded them of their proud advertising boast, they sent me a brand new washing machine which, to this day years later, has worked like a dream. I had clearly bought a lemon that first time. It is understandable that with all of those items coming off a production line day after day, you are going to get a dud once in a while.
After the warranty had run out, there is no doubt in my mind that if I had let anyone else mess with that washing machine instead of insisting on a Maytag serviceman, it would have given them the chance to deny replacement on those grounds.
