Remarkably Excellent but Unreliable
We've had 2 of these for about 6 years and they are beyond the shadow of a doubt wonderful to use. Very high, very low (won't burn chocolate) and instantly controllable. However, there are some real problems. The much advertised temperature jurisdiction feature doesn't work at all, but they are so controllable that this isn't really a big issue. More worrying though is that we've had 2 failures on 1 part and 1 failure on the other. Cooktek service is excellent (although not cheap), but that's a lot of failures.

Offering 20 power cook settings and 27 temperature controls, the Double HOBs are 5000 Watt models (2500 Watts per HOB) which are available in drop-in and free-standing models, in both front-to-back and side-to-side configurations.The real brains behind the CookTek induction cooking system is our patented SmarTemp technology. Inside every one of our induction cooktops is a microprocessor - basically a tiny computer. The microprocessor performs many functions with the most visible being temperature control. Just beneath the glass of the cooktop is a tiny temperature sensor which connects to the microprocessor. When you set the LED display on your cooktop to a particular temperature, the microprocessor monitors it 120 times per second (that's a lot) and cycles itself on and off to maintain the desired temperature. Hands free cooking - now that's smart! Through electronic monitoring, our pan maximizer feature allows you to achieve maximum heating of any induction compatible pan you place on the cooking surface. This means even the least expensive induction pan you use will receive the same amount of energy from the cooktop.The SmarTemp microprocessor is so smart it even tells you if something is wrong through its self diagnostic feature. It actually monitors itself 120 times per second to see if there is any problem with overheating, line shortages or overages, blocked airflow and almost anything else you can imagine. If it detects a problem, an error code will appear in the LED window allowing you to easily diagnose any problems. The nicest thing about the SmarTemp self diagnostic feature is that you will probably never need it!

The FlashPak Pizza Thermal Delivery System (PTDS) is sure to revolutionize the way the Pizza industry delivers pizzas. The FlashPak PTDS, a patented technology, allows pizza delivery restaurants to deliver piping hot pizzas to households around the world using CookTeks proprietary induction technology. It addresses reliability and operational issues associated with existing heated pizza delivery products through the elimination of problematic cords and wax-based phase change materials. CookTeks lightweight, cord-free, solid-to-solid phase change system results in a more reliable, easier to operate system.CookTeks FlashPak PTDS technology consists of a specifically designed "plastic" pellet that is enclosed in the bottom of a pizza delivery bag. The bag is placed on top of an induction-charging platform, which automatically senses the pellets presence and rapidly charges it through the bottom of the bag--without heating the bag itself. The pellet consists of a special magnetic alloy that is encapsulated in a heat retentive plastic. The alloy activates the electromagnetic field produced by the charger, which in turn provides just the right amount of heat to be evenly dispersed throughout the pellet. When the pellet is fully heated, the induction charger automatically senses this and activates a green light on the display.
