Review this before buying
I bought a kenmore presentiment vacuum cleaner less than 1 year ago. The telescoping wand broke--just was vacuuming one day and it seperated, the two metal poles reasonable slid apart. Additionally I had been having problems with the motor--it vacuumed pleasant when it was on, but if I turned off the vacuuum (but left it plugged in) the motor would start-up in bursts of 1 or 2 seconds--very infuriating.
I sent the vacuum back for repair and indicated that I felt that sears/kenmore should fix the vacuum at their cost since I done in $500-$600 for this vacuum, and that it wasn't even a year old. They said that it was not under warranty and would not fix it. I ask them if they stood by their products and they responded with "did you buy the spread-out warranty?" I asked them again if that was necessary for them to stand by their products and they said gave me more run-around. Never once did they speak that they make "quality" products or that their products have a good service record--seems even the employees don't into it. It was all about getting "more money" for the repair.

My cover up just bought this for me since my 2nd kenmore cannister just died. I still have my first one which is very heavy but has the best suction of all three. The hose is all taped up and I can use my side dishes from my second vac. This new vacuum is lighter, quieter and has an extending pole so I don't have to bend over as much when vacuuming. The predicament is the detachable piece for hardwood floors. It doesn't have great suction and it constatly flips up and I have to torment it back down to the floor with my foot so it will be closer to the floor. I think the concept is great but it doesn't decent my hardwood floors as well as the first 2 vacuums. I also don't like the small wheels on the detachable piece to clean hardwood floors. They regularly keep the piece elevated just enough so it doesn't get that close to the floor and it tips back and forth. The vacuum in run-of-the-mill is a good size but when you try to pull it around it smashes into furniture or into walls. My husband thinks since it was rated so violent by CR and by the sales person at the store, it must be good. Well, if he actually had to USE it for himself he may think otherwise .

Worst vacuum ever purchased
I've had this vacuum for rightful over 9 months. I think the only person that hates it more than me is my housekeeper! It is clunky and heavy. The hose is way too desire and makes maneuvering difficult. Constantly crashing into furniture. Now the retractable cord keeps rewinding on its own. I'll have to lug this overpriced, overrated prime mover back to Sears to have a stupid cord fixed. And like the other reviewer noted, the suction is not the topmost. I expect more when paying over $500 for a vacuum cleaner.

Not a fizzle!
Merely bought this vacuum today after my Kenmore of 9 years stopped working. I tried it out when I got home and am very tickled pink! We have a combination of berber carpet, medium length carpet, and hardwood/linoleum. The noble at the store told me this was the "top of the line for Kenmore canisters." I asked what the difference was between "top of the line" and the next consistent down. This one has the detachable vacuum-head for barefloors, longer cord, longer hose and a gimbal head.
I love that the cord is extra long (30 feet). It reaches further than my old vacuum. When I turned on the vacuum, it almost felt like a self-propelled vacuum. On the berber and hardwood, it was very natural to push/pull. I've read another review where they said it didn't push so well on the carpet. On our medium doormat, I put it on low-carpet setting only because I like to think it's cleaning deeper. It did require more effort to walking papers it like that. On the medium setting, it was easy to push/pull. I really like the spin head. It goes under and around furniture better that way. Switching the carpet level is all controlled at the feet so it's straightforward to use. Also switching from carpet to barefloor is controlled at the top so that's easy too. It's easy to pop out the barefloor vacuum main and much lighter to push too (with the barefloor vacuum).
I also like that the exhaust part is located on the sides rather than of the back of the vacuum. This way when vacuuming stairs and you sit the vacuum up on its back on a step, you don't have to worry about covering the exhaust. This comes with a "stair vacuum" extra.
I thought the suction was very good and I love the dirt sensor (located on the hand break up as opposed to the vacuum head like the old one).
For some possible cons: The storage part is made of "lighter" (easily) plastic. My old one was too and it really wasn't a problem as long as you don't treat it roughly. If it were heavier, it would build compensate the vacuum heavier. This is a heavier vacuum compared with some others I tried in the store. But it's the same as my old one so I'm used to it. 24 pounds I weigh is what was listed. (If you're a mom it's not a problem since we're used to lifting kids.) This is on 3 wheels as opposed to 4 like my old vacuum. It swivels recovered when pulling it so if you yank too hard it tends to bump into things. I'll just have to get used to that and modify how hard I pull the vacuum. This does have rubber bumpers all around for people like me who tug it into furniture and walls.
Overall, I recommend this vacuum!

Basic Vacuum
Consumer Reports rated this one beat and I have had this vacuum for about 2 months now. It hasn't disapppointed. It works great and is truly a great blueprint. I love that the floor cleaner pops in and out of the power brush. All the controls are at your fingertips. It is a spot on the expensive side but with all the great features it is understandable. I got mine at Sears for a little less than Amazon wants. The intelligence for 4 instead of 5 stars is I wish it had more suction. There is a suction control but even with it closed all the way and turned up root once in a while it isn't quite enough. I also wish it had more control when you are pulling the canister behind you but this is common with canisters. I would absolutely promote this vacuum to anyone!

Outdo Vacuum Ever
My mom always had a canister vacuum, so when I bought a lineage with wall-to-wall carpeting in 1985, I bought a canister style also. My first one was a Eureka. It did not have a retractable line, which was annoying, and it did not have a way to keep tools on board. I had the belts replace twice. In 1998, my girlfriend moved in with her Electrolux, so the Eureka went to Goodwill. The Electrolux was a ogre: very heavy and old fashioned (1950s model). No retractable cord, no tools on feed. I could's wait to get rid of it. Then one day she came home with a new Electrolux. It looked just like the old: bullet shaped, which made it a trouble in the neck to drag around, and no way to keep the tools on board. And no retractable cord. Such are the little irratations of married vital spark. Then last year our cleaning woman said her vacuum had broken and she would like to buy ours. We sold her the Electrolux for $200 - a favourable deal for her because it cleaned great - and ran out to Sears to buy a Kenmore. We got this one because of the adjustable wand length (a feature we have not acquainted with) and the the pet hair attachment. We are not sorry. I have the sense that the Electrox cleaned the carpets slightly happier, but I don't see a difference. It works great: no high pitched whine as reported by another reviewer, retractable twine, and tools on board. Also, the design makes it easy to store. The tank stands on end in the closed, and the rotar go and wand can easily adjust to be almost flat to fit into a small space (it won't stand up like that on it's own, though). The hose is exceptionally fancy, which is a nice convenience. I have not used the pet hair attachment yet. I had no trouble assembling it. One word of monition though. It is time for a new bag, and this machine takes type Q, which does not seem to be available by mail order from Amazon, Sears or Kenmore websites. I recollect you have to live near a Sears store to get the bags.

Vacuum Died in 6 Months and Sears Says "Too Bad."
I purchased this result on January 2, 2010. It just died six months later. I brought the product to a vacuum mend place and they said the motor died and said it's not worth fixing. I called Sears and they said because I didn't buy the pledge, there is nothing they can do. Instead they referred me to the manufacturer. I am on hold right now with the manufactuer, who I am skeptical will do anything. I will NEVER buy anything from Sears ever again.

Buying my Go along with One
After eight years, wonderful hard use, and not a single problem, the motor to my kenmore progressive canister just died. I researched dysons and played around with the plan of getting an upright, but just kept coming back to the Kenmore. It really did a great job and was easy to use. My 7 year old claimed vacuuming was his job and this vacuum is light enough for him to push around where the majority of uprights aren't even close. The plastic lie on to the place where the extra tools are stored snapped off and I didn't bother putting it back on because the tools rope in place without it. Other than that, it survived tons of cat hair, three babies, linoleum, tile, crappy rug, and new carpet fuzzies. Time for a new one!

Constitution may abhor a vacuum, but this is a good one
If you were to present my other reviews (324 of them as of the time I penned this one) you will see that I have never, ever reviewed any household cleaning supplies or devices. There is a grounds for this, and the fact that I am male, a lawyer and pushing sixty ought to give you some pretty strong clues. Now how I came to critique this nice Kenmore is a long story and involves my mother-in-law. For a significant birthday milestone, I am not certified to say which one, my mother-in-law took my wife on a long cruise and tour of Italy. This left me at profoundly with two responsibilities-feed the cats and don't mess up the house. The former was comparatively easy; the second a bit more disappointing. So I did what any red-blooded American husband would do-I secretly engaged a cleaning lady. My plan was upon her replacement she would see how nice and clean everything was and would trust me if she should ever again leave for an extended period during football season.
Like all plans of this approachable, my plot was instantly uncovered for two basic reasons. The first was that the house was substantially cleaner than I am expert of making it. The second reason involved her being greeted by said cleaning lady when she walked in the entry. My wife however is no fool and she told the cleaning lady to return regularly. In spite of the low-down that our house has a central vac, the cleaning lady told my wife she preferred a Kenmore canister vacuum (I not making this up) and to keep her well-timed we bought her a really good one.
The story cannot end there however. You can't write a review about how easy it is to buy a vacuum cleaner. Think of then my surprise when I was told to assemble it from the box and vacuum up the dead Christmas tree needles. Having done so I am now more than well-informed to write a review. So here goes.
Assembly:
The vacuum comes in a box with even the bag inserted. All one has to do is take it out, plug in the hose and the power premier (or other attachment), turn it on, and get to vacuuming.
Vacuuming:
Tugging around this canister is no more difficult than lugging a thirty foot key vac hose (okay so I have vacuumed before). The 360 degree swivel keeps the hose from kinking, so I was not unceasingly twisting the wand. The wand itself is made from aluminum and telescopes out about 3 feet. The power head can be employed on bare floors or carpet and the switch conveniently goes from off to floor to carpet and is to be found on the handle grip. The floor setting will not work properly if the separate pile acme setting on the power head is not set to XLO which is Sears-speak for extra low. There is a second power aptitude gizmo for vacuuming stairs and if I am ever stupid enough again to buy another house with stairs I will amend my review to indicate you how it does. Additionally there are many non-powered attachments for dusting (what's that?) and crevices.
Storage:
There is a place for all the tools including the power chief executive officer. The storage of the power head required a quick trip to the owners manual for instructions. That does not run out of steam the utility of on-board storage for all the gizmos. It is a good idea and well executed.
Suggestions for improvements:
Like most men, I cannot see slop. Many times my wife will point out areas where I was supposed to have vacuumed as being ignored. So a result of this, one perceptible suggestion would be a GPS so I could tell if I have ever been over a particular patch of floor. A second suggestion would be a video invigilator like in those new luxury cars that shows thats behind you. The sound of the vac while relatively quiet disguises any clap my wife makes when she is sneaking up to see if I am really working.

Merit the extra $$ for an Intuition (the other blue Kenmore)
I exactly wanted to clarify the differences in Kenmore Canister models for anyone who was as confused as I was :)
The blue Progressive (this miniature) is the lowest end of the Kenmore line. Basic tools, nylon bristles.
Next is the black Progressive. It adds an extendable baton and horsehair bristles.
Next is the yellow Progressive. All of the above plus suction control and a light on the stick.
Next is the red (maroon) Intuition. Back to nylon bristles and a non-extendable wand, but has the nice swivel entirely (worth it).
Last is the blue Intuition. Best of the best. Horsehair bristles, digital tiller, popout hardwood floor cleaner, comes with the pet hair removal tool, extendable stick and probably some other things I'm forgetting.
If the difference in product number is just one digit, it right-minded means one has a longer hose.
I think only the Intuitions have the full 360 degree swivel on the hose where it goes into the canister. I sanctuary't had any awkward bumps or problems pulling the canister behind me (and I've never used a canister before). The Intuitions also have an instinctive shut-off if it gets too hot (which was needed the first time I ran it -- didn't realize my old vacuum formerly larboard SO much dirt behind. I filled a bag with just the living/dining/hallway.)
Speaking of bags, Type C is the usual allergen control. Type Q is the HEPA. Both will fit. And super easy to change (I've had a bagless for the last 7 years; this is indeed easier).
My only complaint is that the cover for the attachments is a flimsy plastic. I appreciate the weight reduction, however, and ethical know that I have to be gentle opening and closing it.

The most artistically canister vacuum I've ever used!!
The Kenmore Continuing Canister is one of the best canister vacuums I've ever used! I clean houses for a living and at one of the houses I drudgery at they have me use this vacuum. The house is approx. 4,000 sq. ft. and I use this vacuum on the entire house once every week and I have been for 4 years now. The floors in the enterprise consist of hard wood, flagstone and carpet. This vacuum has always worked great for all the floors.
The one fixation that is a bummer is that the hard floor attachment that has short bristles wears out over time on the uneven flagstone cross-section of the foor in their home. This problem is not the fault of the product just the rough floor in their home ground and it is easily resolved buy repacing that attachment every six months to a year which can be special ordered through the house. However, if your floors aren't made up of rough, uneven flagstone then I don't think you will ever encounter a problem with the friendliness.
This vacuum is also fairly light weight and for my 5'1" frame I can easily get it around and up large flights of stairs. I dear one all the attachments, some of which rotate to get in those hard to reach corners. There is something for everything.
I cant say enough good stuff about this vacuum. It very is great. I am going to get one as soon as I have the $$$ because I'm sick of sweeping all my wood floors and blowing dust and dog skin of one's teeth all over my new baby.

Consumer Reports: Kenmore Vacuum Sucks In A Good Way, Dirt Devil ...
The foremost-selling handheld vacuum, the Gunge Beggar Kone, has been touted as an refined, sculptural elevate, but Consumer Reports found issues with the Kone M0213, $45, and M0212, $43. Four of the M0213 and two of the M0212 trial samples threw some of the excellent silica sand Consumer Reports uses to check up on organization for all vacuums out their disable ports and towards the faces and eyes of the testers. Both models also released ashamed particles of sand found in many backyards and lorgnette from in disrepair lightbulbs in the same way.
If you have one of these vacuums and destitution more bumf about the assess results, click here. They also had some brutal words for the Roomba 560, which was among the worst at "tidiness edges and corners, and it sometimes roved beyond its electronic borders."
There was some avail advice, however, from the universe of vacuuming. Here are CR's new "Excellent Buys":
For most consumers, Consumer Reports found that the Kenmore (Sears) Revolutionary 35922, $350, which is rest and fantastic on carpets, the Kenmore (Sears) (Sears) Left-winger 36932, $350, which is a bagless selection, and the Eureka Team leader Modish Vac 4870, $150, which is cheap and arousing on undecorated floors, are the A- choices. All three of these models are designated CR Beat Buys.
The Eureka Control "is" outstanding on basic floors. I had a past ideal of the Commander that wasn't that famed on floors but robust on carpets- on floors it injection leavings to another place from it. I gave it in a different place to a chum who's vacuum stony-broke and they had no moneyed for a new one. The new Skipper sucks offal and wreckage towards it on simple floors, and it is still energetic on carpets.
I am on my girl Friday Eureka Head and find it to be the A-one vacuum I have owned - very exhilarated with it and for the expense you genuinely cannot trample depart it. I had my first one for about 10 years and by a hair's breadth bought a new one a several months ago.
Chattels to cognizant of about the Kone. I have been wanting to pick up a handheld... will keep taking into consideration other options.

Kenmore Beats Dyson In Consumer Reports Upright Vacuum Test - The ...
Dyson is not the Excalibur of high-minded vacuums, it's the Kenmore Leftist with To the point Force 35922, according to investigate and evaluate results released in the latest outflow of Consumer Reports.
The unblemished wizards of output testing rated the Kenmore at 74, soundly trouncing the Dyson's 64.
The Kenmore "Dynamic with Blunt Pep 35922" garnered "bonzer" ratings for maintenance doormat, emissions, pet whisker, and organization bare floors.
The Dyson "DC17 Genuine Organism" only got got "exclusive of" for emissions and tidiness literal floors.
The Dyson is $250 more overpriced, in-rely on. However, you you can get both for over $100 cheaper by searching on Amazon for reduce occupied or refurbished versions.
We phenomenon, if Consumer Reports neglected profile influence, the distinction of bagless, and gimbal solicit (with a Dyson, you don't necessity to cancel the vacuum to your fullness and then swivel to substitute directions). Then again, one doesn't go to Consumer Reports looking for human being, but outlay-efficacy.
The guy with the erotic English articulation is not only the spokesman for Dyson but he is in factually James Dyson the guy that invented the whole quirk. He not only invented bagless vaccuum cleaners but went on to start his own role manufacturing them because no other big maker would look at his enterprise. He singlehandely created an only new underscore of vaccum cleaners, built the handful one vaccum cleaner in the dialect birth b deliver and no mistrust took some payment war other big companies who copied the imaginings they had rejected in days gone by
TRAI_DEP: Not as a matter of course, the Dyson payout 2x the bounty partly because of all the technology in it, it doesn't have to be haler, the parts fitting price more. The Dyson uses a whirlwind system whereas the kenmore uses a bag system. I'm still more than on cloud nine with my Dyson though, I've had it for a yoke years now and it also "sucks the shit out of my rug".
what a shocker! CR/CU rated a Sears by-product higher than the same name brand name memorandum that's the guts of their Kenmore filler. I like their ammunition, but I have serious matter with their Sears inclination. I may have to upright my identification on the town square. My epistle to BPopkin didn't get a effect. Vacuum Shop: Kenmore Progressive Upright Vacuum with Inteli-Clean ...
I have purchased many vacuums, and they never seem to last, no incident how much I pay out.
