Keen for Hardwood Floors - Bad for Carpets and Rugs
This vacuum (B&D) is lightweight and horrible for hardwood floors (and for use by the elderly as it is lightweight). It is great for fragile furniture as the all-plastic conception will not bang up walls or furniture legs when inadvertantly hit.
Useless for carpets and rugs... For carpets and rugs, I ended up buying a a Hoover match at Walmart for slightly less.... the electric powered attachment is good for carpets and rugs... more heavyweight, chromed-metal conception, however too heavy-duty for hardwood floors or around fine furniture... heavy and bangs things up too much.
So now I own 2 vacuums, one for each lecture.

A-one vacuum ever for pet hair
This feeling is amazing! After going through several vacuums throughout the years and never really finding one that works with pet hair, I'm ecstatic with the Black & Decker Bagless Canister. It gets ringlets off of hardwood floor and carpeting, and does wonders on furniture, shades, etc. It gets spirit from underneath furniture and other hard to reach areas with it's suction power and great attachments. It actually does the trick no matter what you need to pick up. It handles any job with ease and has the power, features and usability of a very overpriced unit. It's easy to clean, doesn't fill up quickly and is an all around excellent buy for anyone in the market for a vacuum, not perfectly per owners. I highly recommend this vacuum!

Grieving, awkward with very little suction!
I bought this vacuum because it was the only one I could find that is bagless, has a retractable string, and a telescopic wand. The suction is just barely there when ANY of the attachments are on. I have to take the attachments off to get corners unspoilt. Forget about pet hair, it wont handle it! The attachments don't snap onto the vacuum, with the exception of a clip that goes onto the hose that gets in the way. So none of the attachments you for are ever around when you need to switch them. Carpet attachment wont even work on my short pile persian rug, and wont reverberate easily. The beater bar stops the second you put in on the floor. It is quite large and heavy to move around. I should have sent this back!

Accurate vacuum
I did not discern Black & Decker made a full sized plug-in vacuum cleaner so I gave this one a try for our basement. It is beautifully designed and made and in point of fact works well. It comes with a whole bunch of attachments (I haven't even used them all). It is powerful but sounds ease and high quality when turned on. It's easy to empty without getting your hands dirty and feels as well made as the dyson I have. It also has a dedicated cord rewind feature which makes putting it away much easier than the dyson.
I plainly recommend it, especially for those looking for a high quality canister type vacuum cleaner.

Power Rug Love Not Powerful
I've justified run a test drive on this vacuum, and I have 3 dogs so I can verify there is a lot of fur and dander in my carpets. The vacuum has a LOT of suction power, which is fine-grained for hard floors; the rug attachment DOES NOT do anywhere near good enough job on the rugs. I know, I'm sobbing great big tears. Back it goes.

Does what I call for it to. Plenty of power even on damp leaves. I aslo purchased to tube for the leaf amassment system in to a large leaf bag so I dont have to keep emptying the small bag it come with.

Motor overcooked up...lasted 2 years
This blower worked lovely until the motor burnt up. I used the blower lightly for about 2 years. Never used the vacuum. The lay out is clunky. Made in China.

Not even good a full review
During first use B&D Sheet Hog was great. It had tons of power and was able to chew through piles of Oak leafs and small twigs. This lasted for a few uses. During the 4th use the apparatus started to smoke and caught on fire - not a great thing around dry leaves. Upon further research I found this to be a common efflux with this unit. Heading to the store this year for a Toro.

Champion Leaf Blower
This blower does a material job blowing leaves and debris. Works well on both hard surfaces and on grass. The absolute thing I am waiting to see is how it holds up. I had previous Black&Decker blowers that lasted several years each. However, my most recent one was from Toro and it lasted only a match up of months longer than a year.

My Side Vacuum
The side vac does a great job, but I didn't know the machine would be so heavy. The clamp for the bagger is surely hard to remove and replace. I wish I had gotten the zippered style.
Otherwise I'm satisfied with the acquisition.

Black & Decker LH5000
This Blower/Vac perfomed very well. The new metal mulching blades are a big improvemnt from the old manageable ones. The zipperless bag is easy to empty. There are nylon strips inside the bag where the leaves enter that must be there for a apology I can't figure but they seem to be fraying as leaves pass through and are getting caught in the nylon threads and posy up. They must be pulled out manually. The variable speed is great around mulched flower beds. You can set it to fashion enough suction to pick up the leaves without getting much mulch. It's adjustable to add a little more, or less, suction depending on what you are picking up. Entire, this is a great improvement over the older models.

Plant-Reconditioned Black & Decker Leaf Hog 12-AMP Electric Blower/Vacuum #BV4000R
Reasonably priced and just now what I wanted to keep the outside cleaned up on a regular basis. Perfect for the deck and front door room which have historically been cleaned with a straw broom. It won't clean up all of my heavy leaves in the fall but a serious way to keep things looking nice.
Easy to use, lightweight and the two speeds help you work around plants and more finicky areas.

A Unelaborated Winner!
Toro Ultra 12 Amp Inconstant Speed Electric Blower/Vacuum With Metal Impeller #51599
I bought this blower/vac in January 09 to repay a gas-powered WeedEater mode. There's no comparison. The B&D blower is a tornado in reverse -- it can void and displace leaf mold that's been years a'building. I have a 300 ft. entry drive with enough urbanized 110V power cord to reach all corners. No line power loss ... certainly excellent performance. Easy shift to vacuum mode and the metal impeller ensures that leaves are establish to mulch with no damage to the machine. (I use a mulch collector of my own build -- works fine-grained.)
My only minor quibble with the machine is that it lacks positive "click" between the two speeds and 'off'. If you're wearing gloves, it's too serenely to inadvertently to shift speeds or off.

B&D Sheet Hog #BV4000R
For the funds this Leaf Hog is the best value on the market. Couldn't tell the difference between the reconditioned and kind new model. Although the impeller is plastic, it still takes abuse and packs a punch when in the blow or vacuum technique. The bag is easier to empty than the Toro model and is relatively simple when changing the blow/vac configuration. My Toro lasted 2 years then the motor skeleton broke in two. Hopefully this B&D will go the distance.

Mill Reconditioned? Still defective!!
I gave this point 4 stars because what it does do, it does well. But, on my unit, the higher speed only works with the bag off. I called Black & Decker to see if I was doing something in error, but no. Seems it was just still defective!! It was also a Type 2 (of 4 Types made, I'm told), so the last thumbnail illustrate of the cord is completely different than the unit I got. Seems that picture is of either a Type 3 or 4. Type 1 (recalled, I've found) and 2 are rare. There was no small cord coming out to attach to my extension cord. Instead, there was just a globular area with two prongs sticking out to plug into on the back of the unit itself.
Amazon is now completely out of the Factory Reconditioned models, but was friendly enough to replace my unit with a brand new one, for no extra charge and with free 1-day shipping!! As a consequence of you, Amazon! That just adds another to a million reasons why I tend to go with items actually sold by Amazon rather than another seller, even if it's a bit more dear.
When I get my new one, and have used it, I'm sure I will write a review on the proper page, Black & Decker Leaf Hog 12-AMP Energized Blower/Vacuum #BV4000. I'm pretty sure after I've been able to test a properly working element I will find that this is a 5-star product, but until then, leaves and debris are piling up and I am waiting!!

I living in a woods and we have a ton of leaves to remove every spring so I decided to buy a vacuum and this one seem to fit my needs. I have used it several times now and it works giant. It does strain more when picking up wet leaves, but this is to be expected because of their weight. It works fantastic on dry leaves and wreckage. Emptying the bag is unbelievably easy and replacing it is a snap. The unit is somewhat akward at first, but once I played around with dissimilar strap positions the weight is distributed evenly making the job effortless. I would highly plug for both big and small yard jobs. What a timesaver and the "mulching" is icing on the cake. I have not used the blower as I have one that has met my requests so I can not comment on that part.

Replacing Black and Decker battery?
Q: I breathe in the UK. I have a cordless black and decker dust buster vacuum cv 9605. the battery (9.6 V) is unsympathetic and i would like to replace it. I removed the battery module and unfortunately it doesn't have any identifying handful. How can i get a replacement battery ? i am not successful on ebay, maybe i am not using the rectify search terms? Any help will be much appeciated. It would be such a waste to throw the vacuum in another place just becuase of the battery.
A: I also had one of these and replaced the batteries (NiCad) with some Metal-Ni-hydride ones. They profession even better than before since they do not have memory. Try and buy those with tags for soldering so you don't damage them with the heat. Otherwise, plain one will do if you are careful and quick with the iron. Get the polarity right.
